11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Type

Over the course of five weeks, we will study the sentiment of anti-Judaism and anti-Jews built into the very fabric of the Christian faith.  We will examine erroneous assumptions regarding the Jewish historical context of the first century and how these erroneous assumptions have colored the Christian interpretation of the Gospels; the history of anti-Jewish thought in the Christian Scriptures and in Church thought; how the Jews, as a whole, are portrayed in Christian sacred literature and ideology as “Christ killers”; how the Jews fared under Christian political power; the role of the Church in the Holocaust; what Vatican II accomplished; and what remains to be done.

This class in Christian Anti-Judaism, taught by Rabbi Barry R. Friedman, will meet on Zoom at 11:00 AM Central Time on five Mondays—October 4, 11, 18, 25 and November 1.
