Community Orchestras

We are also the rehearsal site for two orchestras.

The Junior Klezmer Orchestra

An off-shoot of the famous Maxwell Street Klezmer Band made up of middle and high school age musicians who come together to play music and socialize. The JKO is not affiliated with any movement and welcomes students of all backgrounds and denominations. Bring your own instrument and check out our fun, friendly atmosphere.

BHBE Wilmetzky Orchestra

Wilmetsky Orchestra is BHBE’s own Yiddish/Klezmer ensemble made up of members of the synagogue. The goal of the ensemble is to learn to play and perform (and sing) klezmer and Yiddish music. The Wilmetsky Orchestra performs at synagogue events, including the Wintertanz Klezmer Party, the Regional Men’s Club Convention and the inclusion Klezmer Dance for those with special needs. Members of the orchestra also perform mitzvah concerts at retirement facilities and nursing homes, bringing the joy of music to their residents. The Wilmetsky Orchestra is led by professional musicians, from the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and co-sponsored by the Klezmer Music Foundation. Any and all congregation members are invited play and sing with the band.
